Reviews for Ananke’s Class

So wait... Can I really learn to Belly Dance?

Of course!

Belly Dance has its roots in traditional Middle Eastern folk dance. It’s a community dance that was created to be accessible. Learn more about Belly Dance here.

But I’m too  (old, fat, c lumsy, skinny, etc.)

Belly Dancers come in all shapes and sizes, all ages and ethnicities, and all fitness levels. I think you’re covered.

Why should I take Belly Dance classes?

- First and foremost, they are tons of FUN! People who told me they never liked dancing have found a place in Belly Dance.

- Belly Dance is also a gentle, but effective, form of FITNESS. You can expect light cardio aerobics and some gentle toning of the abs, glutes, and arms.

- Classes are a great way to get some CULTURE. Think you can learn a lot about someone by walking in their shoes? Try dancing in them!

- Like many other dances, Belly Dance is also a beautiful ART, one that has been practiced for over 2000 years.

- Also, bragging rights (c’mon, you know you were thinking it!)

“Ananke truly exhibits concern for health and well being.  She exemplifies the fun aspects of being feminine and alluring.  She loves what she does.”

“Ananke is a great teacher. She makes the class fun.”

“I like the fact that she knows about other forms of female-based dance from both other parts of the world and from other times in history. It gives dimention to a class that might -- at any given time -- include women a with high school education along-side those with advanced academic degrees. There also may be a mix of students with dance backgrounds or athletic training or newly-reformed couch potatoes. And yet -- we all learn.  It seems to be a format challenges the mind and body without the fear of making a fool out of one's self.  She may not know it -- but that is truly appreciated.”

“Ananke did all her best to facilitate the learning technique of each movement. I took classes with other dancers before and they were confusing and mixed all movements without differenciating them. Ananke has an amazing way of showing the dance movement from its starting point to its ending point.”

“She is a superb instructor. She prepares her classes with high level of professionalism. She is so respectful and serious, for the first time I had the feeling that the belly dancing is an art not only a sexual expression.”

“The instructor is influential and inspiring. I enjoy the class very much. Thank you.”
